Valentine's Gift Ideas (That Don't Suck)

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and many are stumbling trying to figure out what to give those special people in their life. But unfortunately, when you look online for Valentine's Day gifts, most ideas are either boring or way too expensive. Thankfully, I have the perfect list for those broke and indecisive yearners of the world.

Here is my list of Valentine's Day gifts (that don’t suck):

Custom Vinyl/CD

Making a custom CD or vinyl is simply superior to making someone a playlist. It's more personal—it shows that you didn't just slap a random mix of love songs onto a playlist, but that you went through and picked out each song with a purpose.

Personalized Deck of Cards

Images of these customized deck of cards are scattered throughout Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. All that you need is a deck of cards, and then you simply list something unique that you adore about the recipient on each card. It's poetic, accessible, and thoughtful. (Plus, it doesn't break the bank!)

Annotated Novel

Do you have someone in your life who is constantly raving about their current read, and/or complaining about their suffering bank account after their recent Barnes & Noble trip? Well, then you should look into making them an annotated copy of their favorite book.

Somebody’s favorite book reveals a lot about them; I mean, it’s got to be their favorite for a reason. The gift of an annotated novel shows the patience and initiative that you yield to spend hours not only reading but also making thoughtful notes along the way!

If you don’t have the patience of Noah Calhoun in The Notebook to build them a house with a wrap-around porch, you might as well annotate their favorite novel.

Permanent Bouquet

Flowers are, of course, delightful. But some people want to receive something more permanent. Thankfully, there are alternatives to the classical bouquet. Crafty individuals across the internet have shared flowers made out of book pages, pipe cleaners, crochet, and even Legos!

These options are not only more cost-effective, but they will last a lot longer.

(Also for the nerds: look into Victorian flower meanings!!!)

RAGE ROOM

Has your friend recently gone through a horrible breakup? Well, try gifting them a ticket to a rage room. They’re inevitably feeling down in the dumps, especially since love is such a vocal point around Valentine's Day. So, put all their sorrow into rage!

Patty’s Pummel Place is a rage room located in Moline, Illinois, with prices ranging from $25 to $60.

It's important to note that these gift ideas are not restricted to romantic love. These gifts are perfect for anyone in your life, even yourself!
