Spring sports are heating up and the games are getting more intense. I’ll be recapping the last week in boys and girls track and field and boys and girls soccer.
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team has struggled out of the gate. After starting out the season 0-3, they had a 6-0 loss to PV which brought their record to 0-4. After that game, it seemed like things were looking up for the boys. They had a 3-0 win against Central DeWitt and a 3-2 win against Iowa City Liberty. Those 2 wins brought their record up to 2-4 on the season. Then they lost 2-0 to Muscatine. Their record is currently 2-5. Their next game is Saturday April 20th against Iowa City High in Iowa City.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team started out the season 2-1. Since then they have played basically .500 soccer. They lost a tough game to Central DeWitt by the score of 2-0. Then they beat Muscatine 1-0. After that game, they lost 3-0 to a tough ADM team. That same day they beat Glenwood 3-0. They then met up with a really tough PV team and ended up losing 7-0. Since those games, they have won 2 consecutive games, 11-0 against Davenport West and 1-0 against Moline. Their next game is Tuesday April 23rd when they take on Davenport Central at Brady Street Stadium.
Boys Track and Field
The boys track and field team has had a pretty good season to this point. At the Assumption Co-Ed Invitational, the Lancers put up 96.0 points, good for 3rd in the meet. Then just a couple days later, they traveled to Cedar Rapids for the Hawkins Varsity Co-Ed Meet and put up 82.0 points, also good for 3rd place. Then they traveled to Davenport for the Jesse Day Relays. The team scored 103.0 points, which put them in second place in a very talented meet. They then traveled to Bettendorf for the big ABC meet and scored 228.0 points, which put them in 3rd place, 2 points behind Bettendorf for 2nd place.
They then won their 3rd straight meet in Central DeWitt, scoring 174.0 points!
Girls Track and Field
The girls have had horrible luck this year with competing in meets due to rain. 3 of their meets have been canceled. The ones that they have competed in, they have done really well in! On April 9th, the girls traveled to Clinton to compete in the Clinton Invitational. They scored 138.0 points which put them in 3rd place, 2 points behind Wahlert Catholic for 2nd place. 2 days later, they traveled to Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. They scored 108.0 points and got 1st place in the meet! They then went to Bettendorf and won their second straight meet, this time scoring 296.0 points! They then won their 3rd straight meet in Central DeWitt, scoring 174.0 points!
