This Week in Lancer Sports

Spring sports are just getting started and we’ve had some action packed games/meets to kick off the season! I’ll be reviewing boys and girls soccer and boys and girls track and field.

Boys Soccer

The boys started out the season 0-2 with a 3-0 loss to Dubuque Senior and a 3-2 loss to Davenport North. The game that was originally scheduled for April 2nd got postponed due to inclement weather. They played the makeup game on April 4th at Cedar Rapids Xavier. They ended up losing the game 3-0. The boys will get right back to action tonight against Pleasant Valley at PV.

the girls played a tough Independence team at The Pitch and won 3-2 in a very close and exciting game

Girls Soccer

The girls started out the season 1-1 with a 1-0 loss to Iowa City West and a 1-0 win against Davenport North. The girls game that was originally scheduled for April 2nd was also postponed due to inclement weather and there has yet to be a date announced for the makeup game. On April 4th the girls played a tough Independence team at The Pitch and won 3-2 in a very close and exciting game. The girls will be back in action on April 9th in DeWitt to take on Central DeWitt.

Boys Track and Field

The boys started the season out slow only managing 6 points at the St. Ambrose indoor meet but quickly turned it around at the North Scott Early Bird meet scoring 116.0 points, good for second place behind Western Dubuque. They then had another rough meet at the Pleasant Valley Spartan Invite scoring 84.0 points, ending up in 5th place. The boys had their meet cancelled on April 2nd due to inclement weather. Their next meet is April 6th at Assumption High School.

Girls Track and Field

Although the girls have only had 2 meets this season, they’ve put up some pretty good points. On March 21st, the girls competed in the Muscatine Invitational at Muscatine High School and scored 124.0 points, good for 3rd place in the meet. Then their meet on March 26th got cancelled. The next meet was the Lady Lancer Relays at Assumption High School and the girls put on a clinic, scoring 124.0 points and winning the meet!
