It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No not Christmas, it’s the NFL playoffs!! Now unfortunately I was not in this class during the start of the playoffs but I will be giving you guys the previous scores and also predicting the championship games and super bowl.
I will be starting out this article by going over the previous playoff scores starting in the Wild Card round. In game one, the Houston Texans destroyed the Cleveland Browns 45-14. CJ Stroud was 16-21 with 274 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. In game two, the Kansas City Chiefs took care of the Miami Dolphins in a really frigid game. The temperature at kickoff was -4 degrees fahrenheit with a windchill of -20 degrees fahrenheit making it the 4th coldest game in NFL history. Even with those frigid temps, Patrick Mahomes still finished the game 23-41 with 262 yards and 1 touchdown. Moving on to game three, the Green Bay Packers pulled off the upset against the Dallas Cowboys 48-32. This win made the Packers the first ever 7 seed to win a playoff game and the youngest team to make the playoffs. The young Packers QB, Jordan Love, balled out in his first playoff game going 16-21 with 272 passing yards and 3 touchdown passes all while Aaron Jones carried the ball 21 times for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns. Now onto game four, where the Detroit Lions just got by the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 in Matthew Stafford's return to Detroit. Jared Goff went 22-27 with 277 yards and 1 touchdown in the victory. In game five, the Buffalo Bills handled the Pittsburgh Steelers pretty easily winning 31-17. Josh Allen went 21-30 with 203 yards and 3 touchdowns. Last but not least we have game six where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wiped the floor with the Philadelphia Eagles winning 32-9. Baker Mayfield went 22-36 with 337 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Now onto the Divisional round. In game one, the number 1 seeded Baltimore Ravens handled the Houston Texans pretty easily winning 34-10. Lamar Jackson went 16-22 with 152 yards and 2 touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 11 carries for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Now game number two, the NFC’s number 1 seeded San Francisco 49ers avoid the upset against the Green Bay Packers winning 24-21 on a late game touchdown. Brock Purdy finished the game 23-29 with 252 yards and 1 touchdown. In game three, the Detroit Lions pulled away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being even through three quarters. The final score was 31-23 and Jared Goff finished the game 30-43 with 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. The fourth and final game of divisional weekend was a wild one. This one featured the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won this one 27-24 on a missed kick late in the game from Bills kicker Tyler Bass. Patrick Mahomes finished the game 17-23 with 215 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Now that the review of the previous scores is over, it’s time for my predictions starting with the NFC championship game. The NFC championship game will feature the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers really struggled against the number 7 seeded Green Bay Packers and the Lions took care of the Buccaneers pretty easily. I believe the Lions win this one 24-17. Now time for the AFC championship game. This one will feature the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. I think this one is pretty easy. The Ravens are the better team and win this one 34-21.
Ravens will win the Super Bowl 24-20 and the Super Bowl MVP will be Lamar Jackson.
Now it’s finally time to talk about what you guys are all here for, my 2024 Super Bowl predictions! According to my predictions of the championship games, this Super Bowl will feature the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens. This one will be a close and hard fight but I believe the Ravens will win the Super Bowl 24-20 and the Super Bowl MVP will be Lamar Jackson.
