Fashionistas of the month

We're kicking off a new monthly spotlight: Fashionista of the Month! For April, we focused on Seniors and Juniors, and in May, we’ll highlight Sophomores and Freshmen. We sent out a form asking for your top picks among the upperclassmen, and after many nominations, these are our winners.

Maddie Sierk (Senior)

Favorite store: My favorite clothing store is really just Depop, I’m constantly buying whatever I find.

Do you prefer thrifting or buying brand-new clothes? I definitely prefer thrifting and the fun of hunting and finding the perfect thing, but buying new is always fun too.

Favorite season for fashion: I like fall and spring the most because you can still wear warm clothes but mix it up with shorts or a skirt.

Favorite Piece of clothing they own: My favorite piece of clothing I own is my patchwork cardigan.

One word to describe your style: Cool grandma

Do you follow fashion trends? I think I somewhat follow trends in a certain category, but I like to think I add my own aspects to it.

Do you have any fashion advice for others? Wear what makes you feel comfortable physically and mentally. Never any shame in the art of fashion.

Charlie Ohl (Senior)

Favorite store: My favorite store is the Salvation Army

Do you prefer thrifting or buying brand-new clothes? Thrifting

Favorite season for fashion: Winter

Favorite Piece of clothing they own: My favorite piece of clothing is more of an accessory but my cochlear implants are quite the fashion statement

One word to describe your style: Basic

Do you follow fashion trends? No

Charlotte Madden (Junior)

Favorite store: My favorite store to find statement pieces would be dry goods or thrift stores! I get my basics at Target and good old Amazon.

Do you prefer thrifting or buying brand-new clothes? I don’t have a certain preference but I like knowing that the thrifted pieces I find have a story before I buy them, which I think is super cool!

Favorite season for fashion: Spring!! The colors, patterns, and textures are all so bright and playful!

Favorite piece of clothing you own: My Free People overalls or my Beatles Jean jacket

One word to describe your style: Boho-chic

Do you follow fashion trends? I don’t follow micro trends I find it pointless but I love the classy timeless pieces and trends. Pieces that will never go out of style!

Do you have any fashion advice for others?

Be true to yourself and wear what makes you feel comfortable!

Remember to keep a look out for the freshman and sophomore fashionistas for next month's nominations!
