They've made a huge impact on this program, they've brought toughness, dedication and hard work to the table. -- Marlon Stewarts
Another Tough Loss For the Boys

It was another tough loss for the boys' basketball team after they fell to Muscatine for the second time this season. The difference in basketball between the two teams was exponential. Considering the fact that our varsity is entirely underclassmen while their varsity is all upperclassmen makes it a whole new game; however, the team has a lot of potential as well as talent, but playing at that high level requires dedication and discipline, which they are capable of.
During the game, North Scott averaged 18.875 points per quarter while the muskies averaged around 20.375 points per quarter. Nonetheless, the score was higher this time compared to the previous time which shows improvement for the Lancers.
Coach Marlon states, “[t]he difference is experience and being older. We have a bunch of talented kids, but when playing High School basketball it comes down to more than just talent and that's what our guys are going through right now!”
A Turn Around for the Lady Lancers

After a setback to the Muscatine girls basketball team, early in their season, the North Scott girls basketball team refined their errors to win on cake auction night, 68-51. After a rocky start to the season, the Lady Lancers showcased lots of improvement that night.
Compared to their previous matchup the Lancers showed improvement all around. The first time they played was fairly early in the season, and the Lady Lancers lost by one point; however, on January 24, the Lancers won by 17 points. The true question is, what allowed the Lancers to figure it out? Looking at the stats, the Lancers were not only shooting more but making more of those shots. They were driving into the lane more often and getting physical.
Nonetheless, both teams do have a lot of potential and great leaders on both teams. Come to the Pit on Monday night to support both the boys and girls! Go Lancers!
