Antonella’s is the perfect restaurant for any occasion. Family dinner? Sure. In Davenport for your presidential campaign? Absolutely. Date? I guess, if you’re okay with the fact that everyone that works there is prettier than you. I’m not talking about the River Drive location, I’ve never been there. I don’t trust it. You want the one on 3rd Street.
It’s got these display windows that they decorate seasonally, and they have a great Christmas display. You know the scene at the beginning of “A Christmas Story” where they’ve got their noses smushed up against the glass? That was me and my siblings every year when we were growing up. They’ve got these fantastic red and white checkered plastic-y tablecloths and signs for all the regions of Italy. It’s the kind of place that is inherently nostalgic. Cozy as all get out. Personally, I love the food. I am not an incredibly discerning food critic, so take that with a grain of salt, but it’s good. They’ve got Sicilian and Chicago style pizza, plus plenty of other Sicilian dishes. The tiramisu is to die for. All for an affordable price! One thing I do know is tomatoes. (Sidenote: if you're looking for the best variety, you want Pruden’s Purples) Antonella’s has freaking excellent tomatoes. Even now! In the dead of winter they have the juiciest, most flavorful tomatoes you have ever tasted. Go try Antonella’s right now.
