Pharmaceuticals have always been a Private company matter in the United States. This arises an issue of price however, as many Americans are struggling to afford their life saving medicine.
With the cost of a month’s worth of insulin averaging about $1000 dollars, there are over a million citizens skipping out, delaying use, or using less in order to save money. The president has tried to tackle this issue with the Inflation Reduction Act, which will cap insulin prices for seniors with Medicare at $35 dollars. The only issue is that the majority of those affected by this do not qualify for this act.
This problem is as easy as decreasing the price of insulin. This will improve the quality of life for people with diabetes, and can be one step forward for making healthcare available to all Americans.
